Lucy Spangler

Lucy Spangler is a multimedia journalist who covers the arts and current events in Boston, MA. She strives to produce stories that engage her audience and connect with her community, utilizing her data visualization, audio, and video production knowledge. While studying journalism at Emerson College, she has covered arts and culture events in Boston such as Boston Calling and the Fierce Styles XI show. She covers local healthcare equity and access and the impacts of climate change on Boston’s neighborhoods. Her work incorporates interactive data visualizations and multimedia elements to educate and empower her readers by allowing them to see an issue through accessible formats. Spangler enjoys combining her love of writing and creative direction with her passion for sustainability through her work with Green Magazine, the bi-annual print publication of the Emerson Green Collective. She curated themes, directed photoshoots, and worked with her peers as an editor helping them refine their submissions. Spangler has been pursuing a career in journalism ever since joining her high school’s newspaper club where she discovered the importance of news. Her goal for the next five years is to continue working tirelessly on her craft through enterprise reporting.
